Wow, how did THAT happen?

I can't believe it has been well over a year since our last blog post! A lot has changed since December of 2009.

Our Macadam location moved in July of 2010. We are now at 6100 SW Macadam. The establishment of our new, HUGE location has been a great success!

We have very exciting news to share, too: our Macadam LexiDog is now the Westside Adoption Center for the Oregon Humane Society! We are so lucky to have this opportunity to partner with OHS to help find loving homes for dogs and cats.

ALSO... Our clients are enthusiastically embracing the new swimming pool at Macadam! It's called Doggie Paddle and it is owned and operated by Julie Thomas. If you haven't checked out the pool yet, you should!

That's all for now and even though it's already mid-January: HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Good News - Adoption Success Stories

We're happy to announce that LUCY, beloved Lucy, was adopted by the mother of one of our co-workers. She's already adjusting well to her new home and we're all lining up to be her dog-sitter if the need ever comes up. We're so thrilled for Lucy and her new family.

Also, TULSA, the American Eskimo dog was adopted this past Friday. Tulsa was in rescue for over 6 months and now she finally has a forever home! Thanks to her foster mom and the staff at LexiDog, Tulsa gained quite a bit more confidence and now has a loving owner. Yay for Tulsa!

Both Lucy and Tulsa stayed with us as part of our fostering efforts for Oregon Dog Rescue. ODR currently has a record 28 dogs in rescue and is in great need of dog food donations. Other donations are appreciated as well (cash, toys, collars, leashes, etc.). You can drop off any donations for ODR at our LexiDog daycare locations (Macadam, Pearl and Lake Oswego).

More Dogs Available for Adoption

ELI is one of the cutest guys we have ever met! He is a lab/chow mix, around one year old and was a stray. He loves to carry his toys around to show off. Eli is very treat motivated and in just a few days has already learned to sit and go to his bed. Eli will most likely do best as an only pet as he is a bit too enthusiastic for most other pets. Eli is neutered, vaccinated, micro-chipped and really would love to start his new life with you!

BUFFY is an 8 year old beagle mix who is a true sweetheart who really wants to be with her people. Buffy is true to her breed and does not like to be left alone for long periods of time. Buffy would love to find a family that is home often to spend her time with. Buffy gets along great with other dogs and is just looking for love. Can you open your heart to Buffy?

CASSIDY is a 5 year old Lab/Beagle mix that was a stray at the shelter recovering from a terrible flea infestation. She's a tiny 32 pounds, but is agile, energetic and passionate about life! I am a cute little girl who is ready to start my new life with you. Cassidy is spayed and current on all vaccinations.

SASHA is a 6 month old terrier/chihuahua mix who is just a tiny 4lbs! Sasha has not been very well socialized in her short life, so she will need a home with a confident owner and no small children. Sascha does well with other dogs and is spayed/vaccinated.

TULSA is is around 2 years old and was recently rescued from the Kennewick puppy mill with about 390 other American Eskimo dogs. Tulsa has been in foster care with Oregon Dog Rescue since May and is ready to find a family that can continue to work on her socialization. Tulsa is a wonderful girl who desperately wants to trust people and know what it would be like to be safe and loved. Tulsa is 17 pounds, vaccinated and spayed. She is doing extremely well in her foster home with 2 other dogs and a kitty!

CHARLOTTE is a 3 year old husky/shepherd mix who is living in foster care with a LexiDog employee. She's seeking a quiet home where she can get all the love and attention she deserves. She came to us a little bit under-weight but we're working on that. She's such a cuddly sweetheart.

CAILEY is a Pom-chi that was a stray. She is around 9 lbs and 10 months old. She is trying to learn to trust everyone in her new environment. Cailey would like a quiet home with no children, but does enjoy the company of other dogs. Cailey is spayed, vaccinated and waiting for you to give her a chance.

Our Foster Dogs

LUCY: 10 month old Lab/Border Collie/St. Bernard mix who had a rough start to life. Lucy came to us really under-socialized and was scared of most people. Lucy is doing AMAZING now in rescue and will be looking for a new home after Thanksgiving.

BUFFY: 8 year old Beagle. She is a sweet little lady looking for a long term commitment!

BRODY (Mr Handsome): 1 year old Lab mix. He's looking for a home with adult humans only.

TULSA: She's a rescue from the Washington American Eskimo puppy mill. Tulsa is doing extremely well in foster care. She has come so far from living in a puppy mill and now absolutely loves playing with other dogs at LexiDog and the dogs in her foster mom's home. Tulsa would love a home with other dogs and even does well with cats.

BONKERS & BUBBA: 10 year old Chihuahua brothers. These comical, cuddly, well-behaved boys would love a lap to sit on for Thanksgiving!

All of these dogs are currently staying at our Macadam location. If you have any questions about them, call us at 503-245-4363. Have a FABULOUS Thanksgiving.

We Love Lucy... and you will, too

Introducing LUCY, our little rehabilitation success story. Lucy is looking for a new home and placing her with a loving family would be a REAL happy ending.

Lucy came to us after a rough start in her life. She didn't want to trust humans right away and her first reaction was fear and aggression. We've only had her for slightly over a week and she has made amazing progress. She has warmed up to every LexiDog employee and always looks forward to her walks with the trainer. Lucy spent most of naptime on Friday sleeping in an employee's lap AND she let us trim her nails without even flinching.

Needless to say, we're all extremely proud of Lucy's progress and we're head-over-heels in love with her. She does very well with other dogs, loves toys and is a BIG fan of a belly rub.

Lucy is staying with us at LexiDog as part of our fostering efforts through Oregon Dog Rescue. She's a 9 month old Lab/Border Collie/St. Bernard mix. She's spayed, vaccinated, potty-trained and should go to a home with children older than 12. If you would like to meet Lucy, please call our Macadam location at 503-245-4363.

Adopt This Amazing Boy

Looking for a new best friend? Nate from Oregon Dog Rescue is staying at our Macadam location and he would love a new, forever home.

What can be said about Nate... he's an absolute sweetheart and he LOVES to cuddle with the humans. He plays really well with other dogs. He can be a little shy at times so would love a new owner who could help to build his confidence.

Nate is GORGEOUS -- he's even more handsome in person. Stop by and meet him if you are out and about this weekend.

Nate is up-to-date with routine shots and is neutered. He is 2 years old and is 41 pounds: not too big and not too small!
